  • 1 c. grits
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/2 unsalted butter
  • 2 cups Cheddar cheese, grated

  • Add grits, water, butter, salt and pepper to a large sauce pan and bring to a boil. Once it starts to boil, reduce heat to low, stirring often to prevent sticking or burning. Once mixture becomes thick and creamy, turn heat off and remove pan. Add 1-2 cups of cheese, according to taste preference, to mixture and stir well.
